One platform.
Several audiences.

I led the design of a streaming system that could support different brands across Europe without rebuilding the product each time.

01

The challenge

Many brands, regions and screens. One product team.

Discovery needed services for different audiences in the UK and Europe. Each brand had its own identity, but the underlying viewing experience and technology could not become a separate product every time.

The work covered DPlay, DMAX, TLC, Quest and Eurosport across phones, tablets, responsive web, Apple TV, Chromecast and smart TVs.

02

The system

Share the product logic. Give each brand room to feel like itself.

Build a common structure

Navigation, content rails, playback and account patterns formed a reusable base for each service.

Make branding intentional

Colour, imagery and selected components could change without breaking the shared product model.

Design across platforms

The system adapted to touch, remote controls and desktop input instead of forcing one interface onto every screen.

Work across locations

I managed design and feedback across international product teams, AEM migrations and front-end developers in Poland.

03

Eurosport

A fixed sporting deadline changed how the team worked.

Eurosport Player had to be ready for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. There was no useful version of being almost ready.

As art director in London, I worked with designers and developers in New York across a six-hour time difference. I covered product concepts, iconography, templates, payment journeys and stakeholder reviews. The redesigned service launched without delay.

Outcome

A system the team could adapt without starting again.

3 brands

The team created three branded services from scratch.

9 months

The services were designed and delivered within nine months.

On time

The launches met their planned dates and budgets, including the Winter Olympics deadline.
