Face Lift

So welcome to this new version of my blog. It’s an updated Word Press plus the Hemingway theme, which I’ve heavily modified to suit these colours and style. But pardon the mess the paint crew made. They left a bucket of paint, and I accidentally kicked it. I’ll try and clean it as soon as possible ;)

To Print or Not to Print

So, I’ve finally located a half decent website, which will print, frame and deliver my selected photos to whoever is interested. I decided to look for such a place as I was getting a number of request from various people, who wanted to print them and put them up in their offices and homes.

Well, as an (f)artist, I don’t feel safe sending large TIFF/JPG files around to people I don’t know. You know, copyright issues and whatnot. How do I know if they’re going to use them in publications and such. Besides, it’s a lot easier to just click on the photos, get them printed, canvased or framed, then delivered to your home with only a few clicks.

To be honest, I would like to someday have my very own shopping-cart for selling prints directly from my fotoblog. Just makes more sense. Saying that, my hosting company, the lovely Dreamhost have provided me with a number of tools to do this, but I have no idea how they work, and right now, don’t have the time to read oodles of manual pages. I hope to remedy this soon.

Hi, I’m a C64

This is quite funny. Especially if you’re Old Skool like me :)

SNOW!

SNOW

We had about 4 inches of snow today in [tag]London[/tag]. Woke up at 8am to drop my mother off at her work, because she was unsure about driving in the snow.

It was fun, had to drive in 1st gear all the way down our street, since the snow was so deep and slippery. Automatic cars have their advantages. You stick it in 1st, and it rolls on its own, and you don’t get stuck in the snow. Breaking was fun. You could turn the wheel either way, you’d still go straight.

Anyway, decided to go to [tag]Alexandra Palace[/tag] and take some pictures. When I got there, there were tons of people sliding down the hills on anything they could get their hands on. From bags to wooden planks, to proper sporty toboggans. Seems like they’d closed a few near by schools and they let them loose out there. It wasn’t just the kids who were going nuts on the slopes.

Of course some fucking idiot kids threw snowballs at my car, and I got out to strangle them, but they ran down the hill. Hope they fell and broke something. Fucking hooligans.

Besides that, it was a fun morning. Lots of nice shots which I’ll eventually upload to my fotoblog and flickr.

Shame the snow is melting now at 10pm, and its going to be all gone by tomorrow. Goodbye snow.

Typical

This is just yet another reason why the rest of the world hates the American war machine. I mean what a load of shit, Smashing into peoples cars so they’d get out of your way. You’re driving a fucking Humvee, jump lanes, don’t make a fucking twat of yourself and your nation, by:

  1. driving like a cunt

  2. making a video of it

    And…

  3. sticking it on a fucking public server. Fucking morons, I don’t care how scared you are of the Iraqi insurgents, use the other fucking lane.

Sorry for the excessive cussing, but this sort of shit really boils my blood.

Just Some Old Photos…

I thought I should test this gallery function in WP. So I’ve uploaded some old photos from my archive.

Install & Re-install Nightmares

Right, so yesterday I got myself a copy of Apples OS X for Intel/AMD, from a friend who had a lot of luck installing it on his PC, instead of WindBLOWS. Overjoyed with the fact that now I can have the beautiful OS X Tiger running on my machine, instead of the shitty Windows, I put the CD in, connected a brand new 320Gig HD and off we went.

The 1st attempt didn’t work. For some reason it didn’t like having all the 320Gig to play with. So I partitioned and gave it 100gig. Then it worked, and installation went smooth with me wetting my pants with excitement.

Everything worked, it even found the on-board sound card. It then rebooted to go into the wonderful world of OS X, and the 1st thing it told me after booting is “Lets start by you plugging in a keyboard and mouse”. And I thought, HUH? … For some strange reason, it recognised my mouse/keyboard in the set-up program, but not when it came to the full-blown OS X.

So fighting with it till 4am, switching various things off in the bios, and unplugging various hardware, but I got nowhere with it, and I gave up and went to sleep.

In the morning, I thought I really can’t be bothered with this, (as it seems to not like my mother board) and I re-installed a fresh copy of Windows XP on the same HD, and this is where I am today.

It’s 4:29am, and I’ve just about finished getting all the essentials working. i.e. browsers / firewall / anti-virus etc. etc.. Tomorrow (or rather later today) I’ll start on the main applications. JeeWeez…Fun for all!

Soul Father James Brown Dies at 73

Mr. Godfather James Brown died today on Christmas day. Very sad and shocking news.

May you rest now, Soul Father.

Merry Christmas everyone.

How Many Canon 20D Shutter Clicks?

If you are curious as to how many times you’ve clicked your 20Ds shutter, use a hex editor and simply check out the numbers located at 95D and 95E in a RAW file.

Not sure if this also works in other Canon RAW files for 30D or 400D etc.

The number you get will be in Hex, so you’ll have to convert it to Decimal. e.g “19 F9 = 6650”, which happens to be what mine were as of tonight.

UPDATE: As it turns out, the above method is a load of bollox and means nothing. Thanks whoeveryouwere on flickr who posted the hint. Go suck a lemon!

Things to Do When You’re Unemployed.

I’ve been looking for various contract work for a few weeks now. In the meantime, I’ve watched a good few shows and I don’t mean one or two, but wholes seasons of shows.

I have some recommendations for fellow “in-between-jobbers”. In no order of preference:

1) Sopranos (6 seasons) 2) Entourage (3 seasons) 3) Weeds (2 seasons) 4) Dead like me (2 seasons) 5) Stargate SG-1 (10 seasons) 6) Stargate Atlantis (3 seasons) 7) Seinfeld (9 seasons) 8) Curb your enthusiasm (5 seasons) 9) Smallville (6 seasons)

So get down to your local whateverBuster and rent these out. Or you could just go to mininova.org ;o)
