I love foreign countries, they seem to take English to another level. Especially the further east you go, the translations become funnier.

There was this billboard I saw in Kuwait, I can’t remember exactly what it said, but the person who translated the Arabic into English either had a sense of humor, or got his translation degree from the back of the Cornflakes box. I’ll post a picture of it when I find it.

Day to Day No More…

So I’ve been slaving away at Ogilvy for over a year and a half now, even though for the last year, I’ve been working solely for Kodak. You can see my handy work if 1) you visit Kodaks online shop or 2) receive emails from Kodak twice a month. Also I built a site they did for some silly ass infomercial, which was totally cheese factor #10.

But I feel it’s time for a change…

The Setup

This is the setup we’ve got right now at home. Sony Bravia 40”, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Mac Mini and games + some DVDs and a couple of BluRays.

You can view the bigger picture at flickr, for those of you who want to know the titles of the disks and games.

40" glory

Table is from IKEA. It’s quite nice, as it has a compartment at the back to hide all the cables, of which there are a lot of.

Lick It Up!

I saw this on the BBC page, and it made me laugh. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help it. The quote is what makes it funny.

“German schoolgirl Annika Irmler has licked her way into the Guinness Book of Records with her whopping seven centimetre tongue. “My friends always said I had an incredibly long tongue – I could make lots of money with it one day,” said Annika.“

Oh well, that’s over. now back to work, though I have a lot of things to say this week, I think I’ll leave it for when I get home.

The Bridge

This weekend, I are mostly been going through DV tapes I shot from 2000 all the way to 2003. I’ve not used my DV cam much in the past few years. It’s been mostly in my fathers hands for his trips back to Iran. I found a few interesting bits on all the tapes I scanned, and uploaded a couple of very short scenes to Youtube. I’ll have to go through them more carefully when time permits.

Three Weeks On…

So, it has been three weeks since Nikki, Zoé and I moved in together, here in old rainy London. Even though it hasn’t actually rained properly since we’ve been back.

Since we moved into an area of London that I am not familiar with very much, we’ve all had to adjust to the new surroundings and whatnot.

It’s Finally Done

So here we are, at Atlanta airport, Zoé has gone to the cargo section, waiting to come on board and get placed in the cargo bay of this Boeing 777-200 (G-VIIB). We’re both pretty nervous for her, since she’s been quite scared the whole day, with the 4 hour car trip from Rock Hill to Atlanta, and then the noises of the cargo bay for British Airways World Cargo.

Moving Weekend

So this weekend is when I move into my new apartment. I hired a van this morning, and shifted some of the big lots, with the help of my brother.

Driving a big white van give you a lot of not so respect in the streets. As they are well know for their attetiude and shit driving in London streets. I was going to roll down my window every now and then and shout “Alright luv?” at passing girls, or blow my horn for no apparent reason, but thought better of it, especially as I was getting quite tired towards the middle of the day with all the manual gear changing (stick shift to you Americans). It’s been a while since I drove a manual vehicle. But to my surprise, I didn’t have any issues and never stalled the van.

Which Stock Is for You?

BA Stock

I saw this on some forum, and it made me laugh. So I though I’d share it with you all (3 of you), especially since I’ll be flying with BA next week. But I think to my fortune, I am flying via Gatwick which isn’t effected by all the delays and cancelations (he said in hope).

This will be it for my travels to USA, as Nikki and Zoé are both coming back with me this time, so we can start our life in London. All visas and pet vaccinations are done for Zoé. All that is left is the 9 hour flight for her in a pet carrier aboard a BA 777 from Atlanta to Gatwick. Hopefully she deals with that part without any problems. She just a little kitty.

Got Any Change?

So what do you think this guy is up to?

Leave a comment about what you think. It’ll be interesting to see everyones view.

O’Hare Part II

After logging off, I was ready to board, and the gate operator announced that the Capt. is missing (probably snoozing somewhere, drunk). That was funny for about 5 secs.

After waiting for 20 mins, they called on a spare Capt. So we boarded, and while doing the pre-flight checks, the new Capt. announced that he is missing a manual which he needs. He then went on to say he can’t find it, and that he has to go back to the other side of the airport to print off a new one, if he couldn’t find one already printed. He also mentioned that it may take up to an hour to print the new manual. So this is my first time on United, and I’m already missing my direct flight from Gatwick to Charlotte.

O’Hare Airport Is HUGE!!!!

OK so here I am at O’Hare Chicago, waiting for my connection flight to Charlotte. JESUS this airport is big.

It must have taken me 40min + to get from the international section to the domestic. That’s not walking, thats taking trains and walkways.

Anyhow, It’s not like any other American airport I’ve been, where all the walls are grey and dull. O’Hare is very modern and looks quite good. Lots of shops and junk food. Wifi only £3, and I can sit here till the cows come home. Though my flight is in 40mins.

So I’ll be in the US of A for the next 2 weeks, enjoying some what warm weather, and visiting the beach at Myrtle Beach. Also visiting Charleston for Nikki’s biometric scans, so she can finally get her UK visa.

Signing off for now.

Simpsonized

A while a go… A LONG LONG while ago I played around with Burger Kings Simpsonize Me web app. This was just after the movie was released in the US, while I was there for my summer vacation. Also this was before it was updated to recognize faces from photos. Back then it was just a little app. to visualize yourself with. A D.I.Y Simposizer, if you will.

Anyway, this is what I managed to create back then. Though it resembles me as much as Father Ted resembles George Clooney.

The software used to make this image a little more pretty is called Picturesque, which I am proud to say I own.

On another note, I’d like to share an annoyance with you all;

On This Day

Well well well… Today is Steve Paul Jobs birthday.

I’ve always wanted to go to one of his keynotes, just something about that man and his charisma that makes you want to listen to what he has to say, even though you know most of it is sales bullshit wrapped in pretty Californian design (China built).

An Offer You Can’t Refuse…

This really made me laugh out loud. Well done to the crew of Spongebob Squarepants.

Thanks to Cartoonbrew:

One of the highlights of the Annie Awards last Friday night was a small video concocted by the cast of Spongebob Squarepants (M.C. Tom Kenny, along with presenters Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence and Bill Fagerbakke), created to prove they shouldn’t be stereotyped simply as Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward and Sandy. Here’s the video, see if you agree:

UPDATE: Unfortunately the video has been removed from YouTube for some bullshit ass reason. So no one else may enjoy it’s greatness. I hope someone managed to snag it, and at some stage will upload it back to youtube so I can snag it. Thanks to Kaveh (jimbo) for finding the alternative version.
